Do me a favor, will you? Take a step back from
the mass media paradigm and look at our world.
See how the external forces can change the way the mind works, as supermodels
and celebrities destroy the confidence of their
faithful viewers/admirers. Imagine, just for a moment,
how life would be without Photoshopped pictures and
hundreds of shows dictating how women should look.
Doesn't the world just seem to brighten up when that
illusion of beauty is lifted? Wouldn't you agree, that without the paradigm,
women across the country would happier
with themselves?
Day after day, I see implants and facelifts, pounds of
makeup and loads of lipstick, stomach tucks and
liposuction and the rest of those invariably artificial ways to make women
more "attractive".
Screw that image, says I.
Women, in
my opinion, are the most beautiful creatures to grace
this fine earth - especially when they show themselves
as they were created. And I'm not just referring
to womens' faces, either. The touch of a woman's
skin sends shivers up my spine, along with the thought that I may
never touch anything so soft and gentle in my
lifetime. Pressing my lips into another pair starts
the butterflies dancing in my stomach - unless there is
a coating of an artificial substance separating us
from the natural feeling. I have looked into a pair of
eyes that would have held me captive until she broke
the hold - had it not been for eyeliner drawing my gaze
away from them.
Do women truly need to disguise
themselves in these masks of beauty products?
The
answer, of course, is no. I believe that every rational
individual on this planet enjoys his partner the most when she is presented au natural.
However, women insist on covering their natural
attributes because they feel "naked", or worse, "ugly".
I see women everywhere looking
at magazines with doctored photos or watching
programs with "models" who sit in
hours of makeup to become remotely good looking.
These "models" are nothing special. They do not radiate true beauty.
They are like the rest, no different, except for that they paid
someone to make them look different.
How often does one find photos of celebrities and models that
haven't been doctored? In the rare case, one always hears the comment, "Look at how
plain she is without makeup! Oh my gosh!"
Yeah, they are
just being natural. And guess what, they aren't
everything you aspire to be, after all.
When women are made up to look like Barbie dolls, the resultant image
sinks the confidence of those who try to aspire
to that level of fake perfection.
The realization that they can't look as glamorous, that they can't look as appealing, creeps
in with every turn of the page/channel and eradicates
every thought of self-satisfaction. It is a travesty, and nothing less.
Ladies, we men are grateful to
just share this earth with your beautiful elegance. Why let triviality
dictate self-worth? If you are around
people who look down on others because of looks, don't
tolerate it. It's not worth losing your self respect. Being someone else can never make you truly
happy. Would you really give up your identity to be
another face? Living as yourself has so much more to offer than the artificial. Be natural; be happy. Be yourself, and I promise
the stress will disappear along with the obsession.
