WHEREAS, the American Left and the Left of the world defines itself as “progressive.”

Whereas, that Webster’s dictionary defines “progress” as:

2) A forward or onward movement (as to an objective or to a goal), and
3) A gradual betterment; especially: the progressive development of mankind

Whereas, that "progressive" policies are not moving America forward, but rather promoting dangerous recidivism to the social and economic policies of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and other totalitarian regimes.

Whereas, that the Left has no goal, except the demagogic fulfillment of Chimeric ideals, including the elimination of poverty and true equality. The former is not impossible except when its realization is attempted through state power; the latter is impossible. Other examples abound.

Whereas, that the policies of the Left result in, invariably, a reduction of the individual’s power to affect his/her legal, social, and economic environment, a stultification of the free market and its ability to provide for society, an augmentation of state power, a collectivization of society, its goals, and its property, and a reliance on the state a meliorative organization functioning in loco parentis.

Whereas, that the United States of America was founded on the principles of limited government and individual liberty, and the Left’s attempt to destroy these institutions is national tergiversation, not progress.

RESOLVED, that the policies and goals of the Left result in socialist dystopia, and therefore the Left is antipodal to the authentic definition of “progressivism.”

Now therefore I, Matt Harrison, president of the Prometheus Institute, and chief editorial writer, do hereby DECLARE, that the Prometheus Institute shall refer to all leftists as “regressives.”
