On Partisanship
Prometheus Institute Editorial

There has been a coarsening of the national political debate that cannot be ignored. We at the Prometheus Institute believe that the only salutary option is to represent ourselves as a coterie of activists and intellectuals who transcend the partisan buncombe to which the American public is unwillingly subjected.

We refuse to promote or support any politician or political party. We refuse to employ partisan arguments.

Our only interest is in the issues themselves. We will defend and promote the libertarian stance through its legal, philosophical, empirical, social, and political justifications.

The elective process does not concern us. Public opinion, political strategy, campaign techniques, and other artifacts of partisan battles become tangential and irrelevant when juxtaposed with our philosophy.

This is not to say, however, that we will not comment on partisan matters. Our subject of choice is politics, and within that we may even engage in lucubrations that may be perceived as contrary to this abjuration. However, we only do so to be accepted as a mainstream voice, pro tanto.

The American public's choice to embrace ideas rather than hatred will adjudicate our ultimate fate. It is likely that acquiescence to the raucous gabble dominating the radio and television waves would result in a quicker rise to prominence. However, we would rather display talent than obnoxious ignorance. We would rather offer an intellectual oasis than jump on the partisan bandwagon.

For those who desire elevated debate, radical creativity, manifest profundity and a neoteric style, welcome to the Prometheus Institute.
