Instead of justifying reprehensible treatment toward the poor, this new breed of social darwinism means reprehensible treatment toward yourself. Maybe social darwinism is a wrong choice of terms for the present-day meaning of the phrase. Darwinism is more like a religion now (or a widely popular cult, whichever way you look at it). Interestingly, The Church of Darwin (they even have their own symbol of a fish with feet on the back some automobiles) is just as close-minded as the people which they mercilessly satire. They believe in their own dogma exclusively- and reject outside opinions as absurd, just like their rivals.
Increasingly evolution has become synonymous with atheism. Yet the two can exist together and not be contradictory. Just like a confident man can exist without being the arrogant asshole this anonymous author describes in the article. Confidence can never be "reprehensible", only arrogance can. There is a distinct difference to be sure.
Why do we torture ourselves about something as easy as talking to a woman? Are our egos so big that we cannot stand even the slightest rejection? Do we really have to develop all of these scientific-sounding theories to make us feel better about our own inadequacies?
Its obvious the author just needs to spend more time with women. He noted that he hoped for more women to start asking out men-- this is a tell-tale sign he has never spent very much time with women, believe me no woman ever fantasizes about asking out a man, they fantasize about the hero sweeping them off their feet.
If you don't believe me, ask your significant other. Or if you're the author, ask your mom.
